VOLUNTEERS

The Afton Trail Run has many great volunteers but we are always looking for more!  Come help us at the start / finish line or work at one of the aid stations out in the park – it makes for a really fun day!  Contact us if you are interested in helping out.

Ask any one runner why they run and the reasons are as broad and diverse as ones imagination; ask someone why they volunteer at a race and the answer is usually pretty much the same – “to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.” This is never more true than it is with the small non-profit trail races that many of us enjoy running.  Many of these events are more of family reunion or an interesting cult gathering than a race and have a much different feel from the big city marathons (don’t get us wrong we love big city marathons too!)

This list of great friends and volunteers of the Afton Trail Run was not created only to show recognition to these individuals but to give everyone else an idea of what type of people / runners get involved and volunteer.  As you will see by reading below, these men and women are tough athletes, the cream of the crop.   Almost all of the volunteers train at the park year round and would love to run the race themselves – but they are happy knowing that their efforts allow you to.

This is a list of those individuals who have been there year after year, not only on race day but 365 days a year – helping get the race together, put the race on, caring for Afton State Park and generally are great ambassadors for our sport.  Come hang out with us for one year and you will keep coming back – and if you do keep coming back we will add your name to the list as well.
